John Wintle is a Consultant Engineer and leading authority on the management of integrity of structures, pressure equipment and other assets in the nuclear, oil and gas and other industry sectors where the exposure to hazards and/or the consequences of failure are high. His many publications include industry guidance, reports and papers on the management of ageing, life extension and risk based assessment and inspection of offshore installations, nuclear facilities and process plant through the Health and Safety Executive and the Energy Institute. He is a Technology Fellow at The Welding Institute and a Visiting Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Strathclyde. John Wintle is currently a Trustee of the Hazards Forum and recently Chair of its Technical Advisory Committee. Previous roles have included being Chair of the European Pressure Equipment Research Council and the Pressure Systems Group of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and service as a member of the European and British Standards Committees for the design and construction of pressure vessels. His background lies primarily in the nuclear industry with the UK Atomic Energy Authority.
